Using Library Resources & Services

The James C. Kirkpatrick Library provides a laptop loan service to currently enrolled students at the University of Central Missouri. This service is partially funded by student technology fees.

• Only currently enrolled students may borrow laptops from the Information desk.
• Laptops are loaned on a first-come, first-serve basis for a period of 1 semester (Chromebooks) or 14 days (Dell's).
• Please allow at least 5 - 10 minutes to complete the check-out process.
• Each student may only check out one computer at a time.
• Laptops will not be loaned between semesters due to maintenance and inventory requirements.

• Chromebook laptops will be due by 5:00 pm the Monday after finals week.
• Please remain until the check-in transaction is completed.
• Equipment, including all peripherals and accessories, must be returned with the laptop.
• You must wait 24-hours before you can check-out another laptop.

• A late fee of $1 per day will be charged if you do not return the laptop, with peripherals and accessories, on time. The maximum late fee is $60. 
• The billing charge for an unreturned laptop is $100.
• Lost or damaged peripheral devices will be charged at the following rates
  • Power cord: $35.00

The James C. Kirkpatrick Library provides DVD/Blu-ray drives to currently enrolled students, faculty and staff at the University of Central Missouri.

• Only currently enrolled students, faculty and staff may borrow DVD/Blu-ray drives from the Information desk.
• DVD/Blu-ray Drives are loaned on a first-come, first-serve basis for a period of 7 days.
• Please allow at least 5 - 10 minutes to complete the check-out process.
• Only one DVD/Blu-ray drive may be checked out at a time.

• The billing charge for an unreturned DVD/Blu-ray drive is $75.

• Students, faculty and staff take full responsibility for the compatibility of any software or media they may use with library technology.
