Interlibrary Loan System

JCKL implemented a new ILL system for interlibrary loan requests.  This system streamlines the login process for library patrons.

This system uses the university ID and password combination that is required of UCM Blackboard and computer logins. JCKL ILL allows patrons to place and monitor requests from anywhere with any device. Patrons can also sign up for email or text notifications so they know the moment their request is fulfilled.

First Time Login Steps

In the Sign-in box enter your UCM user name and password.  This is the same information used to log into Blackboard or a campus computer.

You will now be in your individual interlibrary loan account.  The areas in the account are:

  • Account Details - includes your name, email address and phone number
  • Communication Preferences - whether you want account updates from JCKL ILL and if notifications are desired by email or text message
  • Interlibrary Loan Requests - where you make requests and track the status of requests.

 


The first time using your account, you will need to set communication preferences in order to make a request.

 

There are two blue buttons in the upper right corner of your account.  The “Library Links” button provides links to the JKCL website, library catalog and local interlibrary loan FAQ. The second button will list your first name.  This button provides links to OCLC WorldCat Lists and will sign you out of your interlibrary loan account.

Making & Managing a Request

To make an interlibrary loan request, click on “Interlibrary Loan Requests”.  This will expand the area of the page and show the “Create Request” button. Click that button to access the request form.

Choose whether you are requesting a journal article/book chapter or an entire book, multimedia (DVD, CD, etc.) or music score. This will change the form fields depending on the item you are requesting.


Fill in the information that describes the item you are requesting.  Fields with asterisks (*) are required for successful submission of the form. Once completed, click on the “Submit Request” button at the bottom of the page.

Requests will now show up in the Interlibrary Loan Requests section of your account page.
If you chose to be notified, you will receive notice the item has been requested.

To manage your requests, you do so from the Interlibrary Loan Requests section of your account.  There you can view:

  • Pending requests
  • Articles/book chapters (PDF)
  • Physical item due dates
  • Canceled and completed requests
  • Notifications
  • and renew physical items when the lending library allows.

Article/Chapter Requests

When your article arrives you will receive an email and/or text message when the item is ready for viewing.  A link for the article will be provided in the Interlibrary Loan Requests section of your account page.  Click on the link to retrieve the PDF of the article/book chapter.

You may view the article up to five times in the ILL system or you can save the PDF to your computer. It is always best to save the PDF if you need it for use later.

 

Book, Media or Music Score Requests

When submitting a request for a book, music score or media you must choose a pick up location. Items make take up to 10 days to arrive.

When the item arrives you will receive an email and/or text message the item is ready for pick-up.  Renewal requests can be made from the  Interlibrary Loan Requests section of your account page.
