In general, work by UCM scholars that is allowed to be openly shared may be added to JCKL Digital. Some content may not be accepted for deposit into JCKL Digital, either because it does not meet the general guidelines or due to issues of copyright or technical limitations.. JCKL Digital stores and distributes copies of the scholarly work rather than linking to a publisher’s site. Therefore, one must have permission to share or distribute the work in an institutional repository prior to submitting content to JCKL Digital.
If you have questions about what can be deposited in JCKL Digital, please contact us.

Additional eligibility criteria for materials include but are not limited to:
Data
Data must not contain confidential or protected information that should not be shared publicly.
Data must be able to be openly shared, with no restrictions on who has access to the data
Data submitted to JCKL Digital must be in its final form. If data collection is ongoing, the preference is for a single, finalized submission. If you have any additional questions about submitting data, please reach out.
Student Work
Student work in JCKL Digital is made available only with the permission of the student author(s) and the supervising faculty member(s) or chair of undergraduate research for the department.
If the student work is part of a UCM thesis or final project report, please coordinate with Graduate Studies. The UCM Electronic Thesis / Research Paper Release (ETRP) Form must be completed and returned to the graduate studies department before the submission can be processed.
For student work through the McNair Program additional approval may be needed.
Material must be provided in a digital format. If there are only a few items in paper form, we may assist by digitizing the materials, but our capacity to do so is limited. Authors or departments with large inventories of documents that are available only in paper form are encouraged to work with a vendor to digitize the materials so that they can be added to JCKL Digital.
Our digital content management system only accepts files of the following format types with a limit of 1 GB per file.
To request the addition of eligible content into JCKL Digital, fully complete the Institutional Repository Submission Form. If you have questions concerning completion of the form, contact Nate Beyerink, Assessment and Acquisitions Librarian, at beyerink@ucmo.edu.
JCKL faculty/staff will then work with the author to determine the copyright status for the materials and whether they are allowed to be shared in JCKL Digital. If the copyright status is unclear, the author will need to request permission from the publisher to share the materials in the JCKL Digital repository.
Once we have all the information that we need, we will add the materials to JCKL Digital and send you the permalinks to access them. As long as your work is in JCKL Digital, these URLs should not change and can be used whenever you cite the work.
Items may be withdrawn from JCKL Digital at the request of the author or copyright holder, as the result of collection management or review, at the direction of the Provost or General Counsel, or by legal order. Withdrawn items will be removed from all public access, but will be retained in the repository. Withdrawal requests should be directed to Nate Beyerink, Assessment and Acquisitions Librarian, at beyerink@ucmo.edu.
Accurate descriptive information about the works in JCKL Digital is essential to make the material more easily discovered. At a minimum, a fully complete Institutional Repository Submission Form that includes metadata such as title, author, and publication date must be provided before the material can be added to JCKL Digital.
The James C. Kirkpatrick Library will conduct periodic analyses of repository records to identify areas where additional metadata would be beneficial. JCKL will make every effort to ensure all resources conform to repository metadata policies while still fulfilling their own unique documentation needs.
