Universities have a rich tradition of research and inquiry on many, many different topics, using a myriad of different approaches.

This guide helps explain the different approaches taken by scholars when they are doing their research. Traditionally, universities use the triad of humanities, sciences and social sciences. UCM takes a different approach to include the professional fields. Therefore, we use the metaphor of a four-legged stool.
