Resources at UCM for students who are also parents or caregivers.

Family Study Room

Thanks to a grant from UCM's Strategic Opportunity Initiative, the Family Study Room is located on the second floor of the library to the right of the rotunda in Room JCKL 2439. The room provides a distraction-free environment for student parents to focus on academic work while accompanied by their children. UCM staff and faculty accompanied by children are also welcome to reserve the room.

Room Features:

  • Child-friendly furniture and educational toys
  • Near a child-friendly restroom with changing station and children's step stool
  • Rocking chair and baby swing for feeding/soothing infants
  • Bookshelves with children's books for ages 0-8
  • Two computer workstations and scanner
  • Whiteboard

How to Use:

  • Complete a room reservation form https://ucmo.libcal.com/reserve/jckl-study-rooms 
  • Check out the key to the room at the Information Desk on the first floor.
  • Complete the Acceptable Use Form.
  • This room is only for use while accompanied by a child.
  • Children must be attended at all times in the library, including in the Family Study Room.
  • Please do not change diapers in the Family Study Room; use the nearby restroom equipped with a changing station.
  • Please clean up after yourself and your child(ren) before you leave. Sanitizing wipes are provided.
