Academic Shakespeare Summer

Summer is just around the corner, so it’s time to think about setting a few extracurricular goals. Maybe it’s time to finally get around to checking out some of the plays of William Shakespeare. Fortunately, the library has the resources to do just that. Our database Academic Video Online streams stage performances of thirty seven Shakespeare plays.

Not enough Shakespeare for you? Then jump into Kanopy and search for Shakespeare. There you will find over twenty BBC productions of Shakespeare plays such as Othello. Maybe that’s a bit too serious? You could also learn some very accurate Shakespeare history by checking out the BBC series Upstart Crow. Need a little break from and maybe a little mystery? Try the Shakespeare inspired series Shakespeare and Hathaway: Private Investigators.

Of course, you could take a more serious approach and actually read the plays. OverDrive provides the perfect options with William Shakespeare: Complete Works. Download a book with all the plays and plenty of critical material to help you understand what it all means. And if you need more help, you can download the audio Great Course, Shakespeare: Comedies, Histories, and Tragedies and listen to 36 lectures on Shakespeare’s plays.

Return in the Fall as an expert on the Bard. Amaze your English major classmates!
