New Look for Social Explorer

by Janette Klein on 2025-10-20T14:32:57-05:00 | 0 Comments

Social Explorer’s look has been updated to provide a cleaner, more modern workspace with updated workflows and more data tables to explore.

Social Explorer allows users to access data tables and create downloadable statistical reports. Data can also be displayed on a customizable map that can be shared or downloaded for use in presentations. Census data is available from the most recent decennial census all the way back to 1790. Data from the American Community Survey is available back to 2005.  Data on business patterns, economic indicators, religious affiliation, health, and agriculture are also available to explore.

Users can create shareable stories with Social Explorer maps, combining data with user-created narratives. Stories can be shared with links, embedded in HTML, or emailed. Stories can focus on one data point or compare multiple data sets with swipe maps.

If you have not used Social Explorer recently or have never used the database, go check out the new interface.

Click to access Social Explorer or go to the A-Z database list. For assistance with Social Explorer, contact Anthony Kaiser at akaiser@ucmo.edu.
