Originally from San Bernardino County in Southern California, Melony Del Real joined the JCK Library team earlier this July! Melony graduated with her Master's in Library Science in 2024 and was a library technician until 2025. Melony started as an English Composition major and soon found she enjoyed working with librarians, researching and helping students the most. She then finished her Master’s in English Composition and began her MLS soon after.
Melony is a born and raised Californian, but still has love for campus and Warrensburg. Melony says her favorite part of her new job is the students and her coworkers. She says everyone here is very welcoming and accessible for any help she may need. “In California, people keep to themselves because it's such a big state [...] and here it's baffling how everyone is so friendly and mannered,” says Melony. She also loves the “greenery” in Missouri and all the wildlife around campus and town.
In her first year as a research librarian at UCM, Melony plans to create a workshop to go over Chicago and MLA style citations! She also does classroom instruction and information literacy sessions at the library. Keep an eye out for Melony on campus and be sure to say hi!
You can find a complete list of Melony’s subject specialties and LibGuides here. For assistance with any research help in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, contact Melony Del Real at delreal@ucmo.edu or visit her on the first floor of the library in JCKL 1120.
