Learning Communities at UCM

by Janette Klein on 2024-11-25T07:00:35-06:00 | 0 Comments

Did you know that UCM students can live in a community residence hall floor with other students in their academic major and take 6-7 credit hours together? UCM Housing’s Learning Communities offer just that. With so many changes confronting you as a new college student, these groups allow you to develop camaraderie with peers and form built-in study groups for an extra level of support. Having a roommate or floormate in your major who is enrolled in the same major and courses can be a huge help when you’re both figuring out college. This program also offers a dedicated faculty mentor from your major to help you both inside and outside of the classroom. You’ll get to experience personalized help with study groups and fun activities and events for your learning community like movie nights, dining hall excursions, or group field trips to events on campus.

As a Faculty Mentor for the Education Learning Community, I enjoy getting to know new students majoring in the many fields of study in Education and helping them get connected to campus resources, navigating communication with professors, and finding ways to have fun in their first years as Mules. If you’re considering UCM or have plans to attend, I highly encourage you to sign up for a Learning Community at ucmo.edu/learningcommunities
