Interested in starting a genealogical project? Need a primary source for historical research? HeritageQuest Online is a great place to start. HeritageQuest provides scanned and searchable versions of the U.S. Census from 1790 to 1940.
HeritageQuest’s coverage goes well beyond the U.S. Census. Searchable city directories, mortality schedules, and genealogical books are also available. The Social Security Death Index, 1935-2014 contains over 94 million records. Users can search the U.S. Indian Census Rolls and the U.S. Freedman’s Bank Record, 1861-1875. Military and immigration records are also available. The collection goes beyond the borders of the United States with the Canadian census and many other international sources.
If you love historical records, prepare to spend hours exploring HeritageQuest.
HeritageQuest can be accessed through the A to Z database list at library.ucmo.edu or directly at https://login.cyrano.ucmo.edu/login?url=http://www.heritagequestonline.com.
